Falling Sky Takes 2 Gold Medals At the Oregon Beer Awards

Here in Oregon, we are laidback about many things, but beer is not one of them. Each year since 2015, we host the Oregon Beer Awards, considered one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the country. The program is thoughtfully curated by the state’s top brewers and beer influencers with a focus on innovation and evolving industry trends. Oregon-made beers are tasted, tried, and scored by over 80 judges with extensive experience in the craft beer industry. 

We are proud to say that in 2024, our very own Falling Sky Brewery in Eugene walked away from the Oregon Beer Awards with two gold medals. 

Upside Down Brown Ale Turns the Classic North American Styles Category Upside Down

Of all our delicious beers, our Upside Down Brown Ale is the most decorated – having been awarded medals from the Great American Beer Festival, the Brewers Guild Awards, the North American Brewers Association Awards, and now the Oregon Beer Awards, to name a few. 

The Upside Down Brown has been a Falling Sky favorite since the beginning. This unique ale makes a regular appearance on our rotating draft list and it’s easy to see why: with notes of chocolate, toasted nuts, and malt with an off-dry finish, the Upside Down Brown does not leave much to be desired. Its rich-but-not-too-rich-to-drink-a-six-pack flavor profile is perfect for any BYOB gathering, a pint (or 3) with dinner, or those Friday evening happy hours.

Stormwalker Irish Red Ale Take this Year’s Red Beers Category by Storm

Once called “Daywalker Red” as a nod to redheads everywhere (but particularly those who love the show Southpark) Stormwalker Irish Red Ale is now firmly established as a Falling Sky flagship beer. Along with being a fan favorite here at the brewpub, it is used by restaurants around Eugene for cooking! It’s the magic ingredient in multiple batter recipes and, with its balanced flavor profile, pairs delightfully with almost any dish. 

We were thrilled to see it get the praise it deserves at this year’s Oregon Beer Awards where it took the Gold for Red Beers. This unique brew uses only barley grown and malted in the old country, by which we mean Ireland, of course. Come on down to the brewery anytime to enjoy this authentic stormy ale!
